Group Clinical Supervision

The Association of Child Life Professionals recommends Clinical Supervision as a standard of practice both in the “Clinical Supervision Position Statement of the Child Life Council” and “Standards and Guidelines for Child Life Practice in Community Based & Non-Traditional Settings”

Per these documents, “Regular, ongoing clinical supervision is needed to provide opportunities to process clinical challenges, lessen compassion fatigue, promote the growth and development of child life specialists, and to ensure that competent care is provided to patients and families….Clinical supervision is operationally defined as a formal process based upon a clinically-focused professional relationship between the practitioner and supervisor to support and enhance the quality of care for patients and families….In child life practice, clinical supervision is seen as a means of encouraging therapeutic competence, critical thinking, and reflective skills.”

Our Monthly Group Clinical Supervision is open to all child life professionals, regardless of certification status. The format will be discussed at the beginning of each group, and the leader of the group may rotate between experienced CCLS each month. Coping Copilots staff reserve the right to deny entry or dismiss any group member not following the standards set forth by the ACLP Clinical Supervision Position Statement and/or Code of Ethics.
